  • Due to Vice President Mike Pence’s participation in Commencement, security measures will be in place, including travel to campus, parking, required tickets to enter the Kesler Student Activities Center, metal detectors, and restrictions on items that can be brought into the building. Ticket information has been distributed to graduates and their parents. See drop-down menu below for important information.

    All media members are required to have Taylor University press credentials and provide proof of employment with the media organization. Work space in the press area is limited and passes will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

Caps & Gowns

Seniors participating in Commencement should order a cap and gown online no later than April 2. Cap and gowns must be picked up at the Taylor University Campus Store on Wednesday, May 15 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or Friday, May 17 between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Honors regalia, for those who qualify, should be picked up at the Grad Fair at the bookstore on April 3 (4:00-7:00 p.m.) and April 4 (11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.); Commencement honors and regalia are determined based on your cumulative grade point average (GPA) following Interterm 2019 grades. Please note that degree transcript/diploma honors is based on your cumulative GPA at time of degree conferral. Questions regarding picking up your cap and gown should be directed to Stephen Richardson at 765-998-5216. Senior Program & Dinner

Taylor University Dining Services will host a Senior Dinner for all seniors and their guests on Friday, May 17, from 5:00-7:30 p.m., in the Hodson Dining Commons. Advance buffet tickets may be purchased until Wednesday, May 15. The cost for advance tickets is $12.00 per adult, $6.00 per child (ages 3-11), and children 2 and under are free with paying adult. Tickets purchased after May 15, or at the door, will be $15 per adult and $9 per child. Non-graduating Taylor University students with a valid meal plan may use his or her meal plan to eat in the Commons for dinner. Each graduate will receive his or her own complimentary ticket. Do not include your Taylor student(s) in your reservations. All ticket purchases are non-refundable after May 11.

Purchase Senior Dinner Tickets Here

Following the Senior Dinner on Friday, May 17, there will be a Senior Program at 7:30 p.m. in Rediger Chapel/Auditorium. This is for all seniors and their guests. Members of the senior class plan this event which will include praise and worship as well as remarks by members of the senior class, faculty, and staff. All are invited to this program; there is no charge. Questions regarding the senior program should be directed to Office of Alumni Relations at 765-998-5170.

In Absentia

Students planning to complete a degree between December 2018 through Summer 2019 are expected to participate in the Commencement ceremony (unless s/he has already participated in Commencement for that degree). However, as circumstances do arise that prevent participation in Commencement, if you are unable to attend Commencement, you must email Vince Small, no later than April 30, to inform him that you are unable to attend and the reason why you are unable to attend the ceremony.

Vacating Residence Halls

Graduating seniors must check out and vacate by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Undergraduates must check-out within 24 hours of last exam or by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. Those approved to participate in Commencement as a musician; flag, banner, or mace carrier; usher/host or student marshal must check out by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 and vacate by 4:00 p.m. (Specifically, a student must check out of his/her room – meaning that room is clean and in order and most items have been moved either to storage or to a vehicle prior to 10:00 a.m. Then, following Commencement, students may go back to their room, quickly change and collect their last few belongings, and vacate their room.) A professional photograph will be taken of each graduate as he/she receives their diploma from the President, and will be provided digitally by the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations to the graduate’s Taylor University e-mail address at no charge. During the ceremony there will also be a designed photo area; however families and friends should alleviate crowding by photographing their graduate quickly and immediately exiting the photo area. For guest safety, no tripods may be set up in aisles, doorways or walkways.


Expect the ceremony to last approximately two and one-half hours from the processional until the end of the recessional.

Campus Store/Flowers

For the convenience of graduates and guests, the Campus Store will operate a satellite in The Well in the Kesler Student Activities Center on Saturday, May 18 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and 12:00-1:00 p.m. The Campus Store in the Boren Campus Center will be open 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for sale of University items, diploma frames and other gifts. Questions regarding the Campus Store should be directed to Stephen Richardson at 765-998-5216.

A large and beautiful selection of fresh floral bouquets will be available to browse and purchase on the day of Commencement.

Breakfast/Lunch Day of Commencement

The Hodson Dining Commons will serve breakfast and lunch on the day of Commencement. Meal cards of graduating seniors will be honored. Breakfast will be available from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. The cost for breakfast will be $6.00 per adult and $3.00 for children under 12. Lunch will be available immediately following Commencement from 12:00 – 2:30 and will be $8 per adult and $4.00 for children under 12. Both meals can be paid for with debit/credit cards and/or cash.
